Coast Open Bowls Tourney

The 2007 Coast Open Bowling Tournament was held during the Easter holidays 2007 at Mombasa Sports Club under the scorching sun on all four days. The tournament was sponsored by EABS Bank. 29 Bowlers participated out of which 21 are from upcountry.

Two formats were played, Rinks and Pairs. Worthy winners for the Rinks team were Maureen Burns, Sheelagh Zagoritis, Seamus Burns, and Pat Kelly. The Runners-up team was Alan Gilham, Andrew Jones, Pat Gilham and S Harrison.

The worthy winners for the Pairs team were Charles Wambugu and Susan Wambugu and Runners-up team were Andrew Jones and S. Harrison.

Those bowlers who did not make it to the semi finals played a subsidiary competition - one trips. Mike Karanja, Paul Wamae and Hamida Jafferjee won the subsidiary competition against Raj Arora, Tayebali Kudrati and Sandhya Weeraratna.

After the presentation of medals and trophies to the respective winners, the Captain of Mombasa Sports Club Bowling section thanked all upcountry bowlers who participated in the tournament, his Committee members, the staff who assisted and the Mombasa Sports Club. After the games on Sunday, all bowlers were treated to a Cocktail party courtesy of the sponsor.
